Nassington Road

Our house in Nassington Road

.

Here’s a detailed view of our home at Nassington Road – ours is the right-hand house. It was a fine row of semi-detached Victorian houses built around 1880. It looked south, which means that this view of the front of the house, which is the north side, was in fact taken very early in the morning.

And here’s a view looking down at Nassington Road. The Heath is at the bottom of the road.

And here is a view of the Heath from the bottom of the road. This is in fact the lowest part of the Heath – the ground rises up to Parliament Hill said to be the tallest point in London, from where there are marvellous views. But this is the only place where you can play football on the Heath!
And this is the back of the house. At the front it is 3 storeys, but it is on sloping ground so that at the back it has four storeys, with the ground or basement floor opening out onto the garden.

In the very hot summer of 1976, we were worried that the back wall was going to move, so we have the black stays put in. We need not have worried – it has been rock solid ever since

This is the view over the garden from the tope of the house, with theĀ  fine pear tree in blossom. In the background is the majestic view of London.

The North London Railways lies in the cutting at the end of the garden separating us from the blocks of flats beyond.

Now let’s take a view inside the house
